Christina Rafano

Hi, I’m Christina. I was a nursing student; now I’m a nurse.

It’s nice to meet you.

In the spring of 2010, my heart stopped for 25 seconds. I was taken into the hospital for an urgent pacemaker surgery when a voice came over the sound system. They said a biker had been hit by a car and the ambulance was on it’s way to the hospital. He was rushed past my room, surrounded by nurses and doctors, and sent into operation. Several hours later, they finally came back. The doctor gathered his team right outside my room and said,

That man is not alive because of me, he is alive because of you.

You all did great work today, he wouldn’t be here without you.”

The trajectory of my life changed.

I was going to become a nurse.

My nursing journey is dedicated to helping you be the hero of yours.

That doctor was right. It’s not about me, it’s about you. We need great nurses like these. You are going to save lives. You are going to provide comfort to patients in their darkest moments. You are going to be the one their family remembers. You are going to be a GREAT nurse. I am here to make that happen.
